Design: A Journey Through Dreams, Drawings & Designs
This journey began at a time when I was looking for peace and a way of connecting to the natural world through creativity.
Growing and nurturing flowers and edibles helped restore my mind and heart, focussing on seasonality and living within the moment.
From small scale sketches of flowers, grew digital illustrations, blossoming into final designs.
Each component, a moment in time, pieced together to form a beautiful tapestry of memories and connections to nature.
May I take you on the journey from the initial inspiration to the completed creation.
Showcasing each aligned step towards ‘Hopeful Beginnings’ ‘Optimism Renewed’ and ‘Burst into Bloom’
1. The Moment Of Inspiration
In a late May evening, a strong bond was created with alliums, as they filled the location of my childhood friends wedding venue. They became a focal point of each design and remain a constant source of joy with each interaction.
Alliums are a testament to resilience and strength, surviving the harshest winters, restoring their energy and blossoming in the warmer months. Rising tall above the canopy, offering shelter and an outstretched support to those closest.
No matter how little each spark of joy may be, they accumulate into a wave of beautiful fireworks.
2. First Thoughts
After collecting an array of little study drawings of springtime florals, I began composing an arrangement where they could combine to complete an overall design.
Bauldry Botanicals is a triangle. The strongest of shapes. Three sides. A family connection.
Therefore it was important to showcase three designs, each with its own mood, emotion and energy.
3. Adding Colour
Colour is very important to both me personally and the Bauldry Botanicals designs. It has the ability to soothe and calm, energise and thrill, empower and shelter. But above all it has the strength to bring happiness into your space and heart.
Each palette showcasing yellow, peach, pink, purple, blue and green.
The colours of Spring. A rainbow celebration.
Mother Nature blesses us all with an abundance of beauty and colour combinations; therefore it was key to create honestly depicting their shapes, emotions and true colours.
5. Pieces Of The Puzzle
Like a patchwork quilt, drawings are stitched together, echoing the motifs of the initial sketches.
Retaining the size relationship flowers have with one another, to create a sense of realism; because no matter the illustration developed,
We can not compare to the organic world but bring colour joy and nature to yours.
6. Creating The Design
As leaves grow on trees, the sections are repeated to develop the overall design. Either straight matched or half drop to seamlessly create an all over pattern. Adjusting small sections to ensure a cohesive design and overall movement of the ensemble.
These sections form our fabrics and wallpaper patterns.
‘Hopeful Beginnings’
The first signs of Spring, flowers peering from snow capped pastures. A subtle intricate weave of small scale florals. A calming presence.
Pastel shades that fill the evening skies.
‘Optimism Renewed’
As blossom fades and Spring arrives. A repetitive motif from years gone by. Floral clusters grow from simple backgrounds.
A joyful mood. A rainbow mix of clashing tones as tulips join daffodils.
‘Burst Into Bloom’
The sun shines, and flowers fill the earth. Large scale blooms to dizzy and excite. A bold confident personality.
A true kaleidoscope of colours filled with endless possibilities.

As autumn days become winter nights we are all looking for a little something to assist our immune system, aid sleep and boost happiness. Blueberries and beetroot both contain antioxidants, whilst lavender reduces stress and aids relaxation.
Ingredients
CRUST
- 1 cup of nuts (we used a combination of pecans and almonds)
- 1 cup of shredded coconut
- 2 tablespoons of beetroot powder (to colour the crust and add a little immune boost)
- 4 dates
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
FILLING
- 2 tins or cartons of coconut cream (remove excess liquid) (we used blue dragon)
- 1 cup of blueberries / blackberries / any other berries you like (can be frozen)
- 4 tablespoons of agave syrup
- 1 tablespoons of corn starch
- 2 heaped teaspoons of agar agar
- 1 teaspoon of lavender essence (or choice of flavour)
DECORATE
- Edible flowers (including cornflowers, violas and dianthus)
- Blueberries, blackberries and anything else you like!
Instructions or Guidelines...
- Soak dates in warm water to soften.
- In a blender mix crust ingredients of nuts, shredded coconut, beetroot powder, dates and coconut oil. Until it becomes a consistent mixture.
- Spoon into a 20cm false bottom tart tin, pressing in with a spoon to form a base.
- Leave in the fridge to chill and solidify.
- Soak 2 teaspoons of agar agar in a little trickle of water to cover for 10 mins. Add the cornstarch to form a paste. Add more agar agar if you prefer a more set consistency.
- In a medium saucepan heat the coconut cream until smooth.
- Add the berries - squishing to release the colour. When the desired colour is reached, sieve out the bits so the coloured cream remains.
- Add the agar agar and cornstarch paste - stirring until it thickens, adding the essence or flavourings.
- Pour into the crust and allow to cool.
- Decorate, fill with colour, flowers and everything you love.
- There is so little chance this will last long enough to store, but if so an airtight container for a maximum of 4 days.
As nights grow cold, take time to nourish yourself, rest your weary body and mind.Above all, be kind to yourself; because even after the darkest moments there will always be the beautiful truth that the sun will shine again. Where rose petals reach to kiss blue skies - the scent of lavender, dreams will rise.
We would love to know your thoughts, ideas of if you have added the energy of purple to your world.
May your days be filled with peace, restoration and moments to dream.
